How do you get the sledgehammer back in Red Faction Guerrilla

Have you used the gold hammer cheat? If so, you can't get the normal sledgehammer back. If you haven't used the cheat and simply bought a different hammer, just go to sam in the safehouse and buy back the old one with salvage.
