How do you switch items in God of War 3

From what I understand, you Hold L2 and hit the either, Square, Triangle or X (Whichever Button is NOT used by the current item being held).

For instance - so far I only have Helios' Head and Apollo's Bow (I think that's the name of it). So since the bow only uses the Square button (To fire Arrows), Hit Triangle or X. Helios uses Triangle I believe (Maybe X also, don't believe so though), so hit Square to switch to the Bow.

Hope this helps! I think they should have made a different system, but this one works, and it's better then the weapon switching in 2, where you had to go to the menu to switch,
