When do you see Shadow the Hedgehog in Sonic Chronicles Dark Brotherhood

You see Shadow three times: once,in central city,where he knocks you down, once in mystic ruins,where he gives you part of the pattern device, and finally in blue ridge zone when, after fighting him twice, you unlock him.
