Sonic was born June 23 1991 making him 21 years old as of July 2012. When sonic was 15, Tails was 8. So if Sonic was 15 when Tails was 8, add the difference in their ages (which is 7) to 1991. That means tails is born in 1997 October 16. Its October 16 because thats when he debuted in his first game. This method applies to all Sonic characters.
