Are video games the cause of violence

no there have been tests that have shown that people do not play video games for the violence but because it is competitive. there is a test were a company created an online first person shooter(fps) were there was no violence and when you shot someone they would simply stop and fade away. people who played the game and also played frequent first person shooters said that the game was a lot of fun because of the competitive part of it and they enjoyed the futuristic style. players are not looking for violence although it may seem like it. what they are looking for is realism because when playing a video game you want it to make you feel like you are there.
