What the best online game on the internet

What the best online game on the internet
It depends, there are many different types of games, and also whether you like to play alone or with other people. Almost every game can play multi-player in one way or another. It also depends on what kind of gamer you are:

Are you a casual gamer? Do you play games "just for fun" or just to fill up the time? You don't like challenging games, and you don't want to think too hard.

Are you a strategy gamer? Do you like to have multiple ways to get to the same result? You like to think about how to play the game, but don't want something too hard. Repetition comes with this, and that may be a deciding factor.

Are you a competitive gamer? Do you like the rush of adrenaline that comes when you get that last kill, achievement, item? You need tangible results to your efforts, whether or not you have to do the same thing 20 times. Sometimes a little strategy is okay, but most of the time you want something that tests your skills.

There are more than just these three categories but if you find yourself relating to one over the other, you might show preferences in genres:

Flash Games
For every category of game, there are many different flash games. Side Scrollers, Tower Defence Games, RPGs, Fighting Games, Racing Games, Web Cam Games, Sports Games, Arcade Games, Action Games, Adventure Games, and more. Sites likehttp:/www.newgrounds.com http:/www.kongregate.com http:/www.armorgames.comand http:/www.mofunzone.com are sites where many different people post the games they made. There are also hundreds of developer sights, which might have in depth information on a game, or a more up-to-date version. Also, some games have their own websites, and can only be played on them, despite their popularity.

Anyone can like flash games, however, depending on your internet speed, and the, on average, low graphic quality of flash games, you might not like them. However, There are also flash movies that can be dramatic, comedic, informational, etc. that you could enjoy.

RPG Games
Role Playing Games games (the double use of the word game, is added as clarification when using the acronym, another real world use is "ATM Machine", which stands for "Automated Teller Machine Machine") are possibly one of the most popular games ever. They come in many different formats, but can be summed up easily.

In an RPG game, you create a character, be it an actual person or not, and control their lives. You can customize them, and as you play them more, they gain more power/strength/abilites.

RPGs can be played single-player or multi-player. However, a dedicated-multiplayer RPGgame is called an MMORPG which stands for Massively Multi-player Role Playing Game, or just MMO. The most popular MMO is World of Warcraft (WOW), made by Blizzard Entertainment. There are over 10 million players, and tons of content to explore.

MMO's come with a drawback, however, unlike (most) Flash Games, you will have to Pay to Play (P2P) the more popular ones. This money is not going to greedy companies who are in it for the money. The cost of development, hosting, and time involvement all add up to something most people can't afford. Think about the game creator, unless he is actively working on the game, it won't be worth anything; and if he is actively working on the game, he won't have a job. Now, how is he supposed to keep a roof over his head? How is he supposed to feed his family? Well, let's say you don't have much spare money, whatever be the reason. There are many Free to Play (F2P) games out there. Go to http:/www.freemmorpglist.com or http:/www.mmorpg.com These sites of huge lists of many games, some of them F2P, some P2P.

RPG's are more for the Strategy and Competitive Gamers. The Casual Gamer does not like the time involvement RPG's take.

FPS Games
First Person Shooter Games are also immensely popular. Games like Halo, Half-Life,Quake, Unreal Tournament, Counterstrike, and Call of Duty are huge franchises. There are a few F2P FPS Games, but most are P2P. The goal of an FPS is to get the highest number of kills. There are many different sub-goals, but that's basically it. You get to choose from several weapons, and will find more throughout the arena. Games arefast-paced, and require some skill.

Most FPS come with a single-player, but there are a few MMOFPS (Massively Multi-playerOnline First Person Shooter) which are dedicated multi-player. There is a huge reward system inherent in the FPS that comes in the form of an achievement. In order to unlock an achievement, you will have to get so many kills, play for so long, or do other little things. You can go out of your way to get achievements, and some require that you do, but most of the time you can just play the game and be pleasantly surprised when a notification pops up.

There is a lot of bad hype about FPS games. Opponents say they make players more violent, and blame FPS games on horrific tragedies such as Columbine or Virginia Tech, while players disagree and say that the games had nothing to do with it.

The Competitive Gamer lives for FPS Games, they were made for each other and they both know it. However, both Casual and Strategy Games don't like it as much, though they might enjoy a little here and there.

RTS Games
Real Time Strategy Games are just as popular. Games like Starcraft, Age of Empires, Rise of Nations, Command and Conquer, and Empire Earth are popular. The purpose of an RTS game is to take over the world/universe. You do these by collecting resources which allow you to build buildings which allow you to train units which you use to destroy your enemies. Diplomacy is big, and even the smallest mistake can be devastating.

RTS Games work equally well on single-player and multi-player, and there are many custom maps/mods which can change the game, or even create new games altogether. For example, the Tower Defence maps in Warcraft inspired someone to make a Flash Game out of it. From there, the internet rocked as hundreds of bad, and a few goodTD's were made.

You can get very few RTS's without paying anything, however, unlike most P2P MMO's,they do not require a monthly subscription. You can get bundles of multiple RTS games, for the price of one. This does not mean that it is inferior, it just means that it might be older, or the single game comes from a more well known developer.

Just like Competitive Gamers are made for FPS's, Strategy Gamers are made for RTS's.Some Competitive Gamers like RTS's, while other's don't. Casual Gamers will find thatRTS games require too much strategy to play enjoyably.

TBS Games
Turn Based Strategy Games are almost identical to RTS games. The major difference, is that in RTS games, everyone plays at the same time, and their actions take effect immediately, while in TBS games, everyone takes their turn one at a time, and you have a little more breathing room to think in.

Everything I said about RTS games can be said about TBS games, except that Casual Gamers might find they like TBS games more than RTS games, and the reverse with Competitive Gamers.

Fighting Games
Fighting games are fast paced games more suited for multi-player hot-seat sessions. The core of a Fighting game, is that you choose a character who has certain skills/weapons, and you fight with one or more opponents for a set number of rounds/length of time.

Recognizable Fighting games are Soul Calibur, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, and the more cartoonish, Super Smash Bros. Like with all genres, each game is different, and you shouldn't judge a genre by just one game.

Fighting games are in the same cost boat as RTS and TBS games. However, if you have a friend who has one of these games, try it out first there, and then buy it. Some of these games can be won by "button smashing", that is repeatedly pressing random buttons as fast as you can, while others require skill.

All Gamers like Fighting Games, Competitive Gamers the most, and Strategy Gamers the least.

Please bear in mind that there are more genres and game types than I've listed here. However, you should be able to find a niche somewhere in here.
