What was the first portable video game

I believe that was Tetris on the original 2 color Gameboy( actually thinking about it Nintendo did have a portable device before the Gameboy. It was called a Game and Watch, but i really would say they weren't a proper game device as you could only play the game that was built into it) Gameboy was the first that could play different games.
