Ludum Dare 48 #26 is going with the theme of minimalism and has ended yesterday with over 3000 submissions. Just don't be surprised if you continue seeing game developers busy uploading their work on major game sites like Kongregate & Newgrounds. XYZ is one of those being uploaded and caught my attention.

The gameplay itself is pretty self-explanatory; You are given a 3D figure and an outline. Basically, it's all about manipulating the 3D shape into fit the outline by messing around the buttons. It kind of reminds me of simian.interface to some extend. Really minimal, yet challenging. I stumbled into success during the earlier shapes, but once they got more complex I was forced to take it slower and try to understand them. It kind of worked... As my brain was subconsciously figuring them out!

To me, XYZ is a sweet game based on perspective and geometry featuring minimalism. The design is incredibly slick and the ambient music fitted perfectly. It gave me a feeling of a finished product in a whole, doesn't look like a game made in 48 hours. I do believe the game has the potential to turn into a mobile app. Definitely will work well with the accelerometer as control. Brilliant game. :)
