POLL: What's Your Favorite From CES This Year?

Last week we asked you if you’ve joined the biggest trend of the 2010s and got yourself a tablet. Not only did you answer our poll, you took to the comments to tell us all about the tablets you own. That’s awesome!

Out of 837 votes in total, these are our tablet results: 3% used to own a tablet but don’t anymore, 6% don’t own one but plan to get one soon, 13% don’t own one, never did, and don’t plan to get one, and 77% of this poll’s voters currently own a tablet. How’s that for a trend?

Comment Of The Week

Last week’s comments were literally overflowing with excellent tablet recommendations — not just for the ones you think — and in general made a pretty good case for what tablets are good for. Naturally, there were also several comments about how useless tablets are, but these seemed to be in the minority.

Best comment this week goes to Rick, who concisely described exactly why he likes his tablet and what it’s good for. For this comment, Rick wins a free MakeUseOf t-shirt:

I have a 2nd generation Nexus 7. I bought it because of the combination of great price ($50 off at Staples when I bought it!), good hardware, and pure Android/Google experience. I love it, and find myself using it a lot. As long as I don’t need 3G connectivity, extreme portability, or an actual phone, I find it much more pleasant to use than my phone and it’s great at home when I don’t want to be stuck at my desktop. Mostly use it for leisure activities (reading, music, videos, an occasional round or two of Angry Birds, etc.), but find I can also be quite productive on it for certain tasks like writing posts for my blog, dealing with email and calendar, many things in Evernote, etc. As much as I think I would like to have a Chromebook, I don’t think I would use it nearly as much as this tablet which is more convenient and can do more offline. While neither this tablet or a Chromebook could currently replace my desktop completely, I think a tablet is a very worthwhile device for my needs.

Another exciting CES has come to a close, and it’s time to think about the awesome new things we all heard about. Are you excited about PlayStation Now? Can’t wait to try all that new wearable technology? Or perhaps you have an eye on those new ways to commute such as the Toyota i-Road or Urb-E? No matter what caught your eye, it’s probably awesome. Choose your favorite from the list below, and if you can’t see it, tell us all about it in the comments!

Chose one of the general options? Tell us more about it in the comments! And don’t forget to tell us what it is you like most about your choice.
