Guide To Affinity Victories In Civilization: Beyond Earth

The Affinity tracks in Civilization: Beyond Earth roughly take the place of the Science based method of Civilization V. There are three to choose from, Harmony, Supremacy, and Purity. Each can be invested in by researching specific tiers in the tech tree. Once you’ve completed research on tech affiliated with your Affinity and have invested 13 points, you can meet the conditions necessary for Victory.

Harmony

Once you reach level 13 in the Harmony Affinity track, you can build the Mind Flower. You will need to pick a tile for it and place it manually. It will destroy the improvement made on that tile. It will also take several turns to build, however the duration can be greatly reduced by building the Xeno Sanctuary and the Mind Stem in each of your cities.

Once the Mind Flower is completed you will need to defend it for at least 20 turns. This may not be a simple task, as it causes nearby Aliens to act aggressively. Once it is finished, it will usher in a unified consciousness of all the brains of the planet’s inhabitants, triggering a Transcendence Victory.

Supremacy

For a Supremacy win you will need to do a little planning beforehand. After you reach level 13, you will need to first establish contact with Earth by launching a Lasercom orbital unit. You will also need to research the Hypercomputing technology, which will allow you to build the Emancipation Gate.

Once Earth has been contacted and you’ve completed the Gate, you can begin to send military units through the portal (click the Gate and then click on the tiny icon that appears in the gray window in the lower left of the screen to activate it). You will need to send 1000 points of military power through the Gate, which comes to about 20 units. Try to place them around the Gate several turns before it is even finished.

When it has been completed, place a unit on the Gate, then click the icon in the task bar that will send them to Earth. Once you have sent all the necessary firepower, you will trigger the Emancipation Victory.

Purity

As with Supremacy, you will need to have some foresight for your Purity win. Try to keep open space near your largest or most productive city. You will need to establish at least four settlements to earn this victory, and they need to be spaced apart as far as normal outposts and cities. This is easier if you choose a large map with fewer competing federations.

After investing 13 points in the Purity tree, you will need launch a Lasercom satellite to establish contact with Earth. You will also need to research Nanotechnology in the tech web. Following that, you can build the Exodus Gate, which will take several turns. Once it is complete, you can start sending out Earth Settlers. Select the Gate’s and in the bottom left screen, choose the tiny icon that says Summon Earthling Settler. This can be done once per turn. Each unit can either establish or settle in an Earth Settlement. 20 settlers are needed for completion, which means you need at least four settlements. They will not settle in outposts or cities that were not created by another Earth Settler. Once twenty have been settled, you will usher in the Promised Land Victory.

All three Victories will make the player sit through several turns of ultimately pointless activity before triggering the win, so hang tight and plan ahead so as to reduce the turns needed to build each item. If you have several cities, use the Queue option in the city menu to cut back on the motions in each turn. You can also at this point set all Worker units to Auto, further reducing the number of unnecessary actions per turn.
