Top 10 Mac OSX Games 2015

Apple’s Mac has a less-than-stellar reputation within the gaming community. While the platform certainly suffers due to its lack of DirectX support, this hasn’t stopped game developers from porting their games to the system. Not only does the Mac have a massive library of supported video games, but there are plenty of amazing titles that you’ll want to check out this year alone.

We’re certain that Mac gamers will find something to play in this list, though as always if we miss a worthy title that you think deserves to be on the list then let us know in the comment section below.

For now, take a look at these ten titles that we’ve selected for the best Mac OSX games of 2015.

Besiege

Besiege gives players a massive amount of tools and resources required to create a machine aimed at nothing more than causing death and destruction.

With that said, Besiege has taken the gaming community by storm, allowing players to create some of the most outlandish and insane contraceptions to get the job done. In fact, you’ll want to take a look at these most creative creations from Besiege

The heart of this game is all about physics and puzzle solving. Within each level, a player is given a task such as taking out a building full of enemies. However, how you complete that task is entirely up to you with endless creation possibilities. You’ll easily find yourself going back into the creation editor to tweak your latest build in order to fully execute the task flawlessly.

Axiom Verge

Back in the days of the Super Nintendo there was one particular video game that was a must have—Super Metroid. The game took players into a grand adventure filled with various enemies, challenging boss battles, and most of all, exploration.

You definitely won’t have to dig too deep into Axiom Verge to realize that the developers of this title were strongly influenced by Super Metroid, but if there’s one thing I can’t stress enough, Axiom Verge doesn’t find itself just being a video game clone.

Upon waking up from a lab accident, our protagonist finds himself within a mysterious alien world. While on the search to find a way back home, players will discover countless weapons and abilities along with developers tossing a throwback to a more classic era in video games.

Don’t expect Axiom Verge to hold your hand throughout the story either, you’ll have to explore and keep track of the different maps in order to progress in the game all the while keeping in mind which weapon is most effective for the different areas and enemies species.

Invisible, Inc.

Invisible Inc is a turn-based tactics video game that is heavily influenced by stealth. Players take control of an espionage agency set in the year of 2074. You’re tasked with infiltrating some of the world’s most dangerous corporations and with turn-based tactics style gameplay, players will have to carefully maneuver their elite group of agents throughout the levels in order gain the specific intelligence along with escaping the area without alerting the guards.

Grim Fandango Remastered

Grim Fandango first released back in 1998 where it received positive reviews. Now fast forward to earlier this year, the video game once again hit markets with a newly remastered edition. If you’ve never played Grim Fandango, the game is a point and click adventure that focuses on Manny Calavera. Manny has a unique job as he sells packages to souls on their four-year journey to everlasting eternal rest. However, when Manny gets tangled into a conspiracy that may threaten his own salvation, players must untangle the web and clear Manny’s name.

Tales from the Borderlands

Telltale Games tried their hand at making a Borderlands video game with Tales from the Borderlands. Following the same gameplay featured in their previous Telltale Games releases such as The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us, Tales from the Borderlands plays out through an episodic form where choices and actions will affect the storyline later on.

The story of Tales from the Borderlands takes place after the events of Borderlands 2 on the planet Pandora. After a discovery is released, swarms of vault hunters head to Pandora to locate a hidden vault that supposedly contains a vast treasure. Players will take the role of Rhys, a Hyperion that has his eye on taking over the position of Handsome Jack, along with Fiona who is another con artist within Pandora that hopes to score big thanks to this hidden vault.

Oddworld: New N’ Tasty

Oddworld: New N’ Tasty is the remake of the platformer Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee. Abe Oddysee, a Mudokons, is a prisoner of RuptureFarms, the top meat-processing plant on Oddworld. While on the job, Abe learns that RuptureFarms will soon make tasty treats out of Mudokons meat. Players are given the task of freeing the other Mudokon slaves and restoring the land once again.

Kerbal Space Program

Kerbal Space Program puts players in control of a space program where your sole purpose and duty is to create functional ships for your crew of Kerbals. With a collection of parts that will play an effect through the build of a spacecraft, players will learn how to tweak their rocket science in order to fully send their Kerbal’s to space and safely bring them back to Earth.

There are a few game modes within the game that are worth trying out. Not only is there a sandbox mode that will give players the ability to be creative and consistently conduct trials and errors of various spacecraft builds but also modes that will give players objectives and missions while traveling through space.

ARK: Survival Evolved

While ARK: Survival Evolved is set to release fully in June 2016 the early access to the game is well worth the cost. This particular title is an action-adventure survival game that puts players into the role of a human stranded within land infested with dinosaurs.

To progress within the game, players must complete simple objectives that will ultimately keep them alive through the night. Scavenge for resources that can be put to use for creating weapons or building structures. To top it off, there are over sixty types of dinosaurs which can be tamed to do your bidding. Tamed dinosaurs, sign me up!

Pillars of Eternity

The spiritual successor to Baldur’s Gate and Icewind Dale, Pillars of Eternity is one game that fans were eager to get their hands on. Back in 2012, Pillars of Eternity was the highest funded crowdsourced video game on Kickstarter with a total of $4,163,208 pledged to get this game in development.

This role-playing game takes players into the fantasy world of Eora where a nation of Dyrwood is being stricken with an odd phenomenon dubbed the “hollowborn”. Because of this phenomenon, infants are being born without a soul but alas a protagonist becomes awaken and learns of his true power. After discovering that our protagonist is a “Watcher”, players will gain the ability to see souls and past lives. With this new power at hand, our protagonist may unlock the hollowborn terror and return the souls to their rightful owner.

Cities: Skylines

The direct competitor to SimCity, our recommendation for a city-building and management simulator goes to Cities: Skylines. Starting with just a plot of land, players will be able to expand this open-ended city-building simulator.

Decide exactly how your city will be built from zoning, road placement, public services, public transportation, and even taxation. Make your city replicate a town of your own or make something truly unique and creative. However, the ultimate goal remains the same, can you make a lasting and functioning city?
