Minecraft: The Guide to Mounts and Vehicles - Horse, Pig, Boat and Minecart

The Mounts and Vehicles

As well as giving you a sense of freedom, moving about on the back of a mount or allowing yourself to be pulled gently along, comfortably sat in a vehicle, will prove as useful as it is enjoyable. Whether you're a horseman, sailor or railway enthusiast, you're bound to find something that will advise you on the possibilities offered by Minecraft when it comes to travelling!

The Minecarts

They can be used to transport objects, creatures and yourself which will prove very useful since it moves much faster than a player on foot. Note that the minecarts must absolutely be placed on the rails.

The Boats

The ultimate way of transport when you need to cross water. Not as fast as a cart, they are still much better than some backcrawl.

The Horses

Before you can mount and control a horse, you'll have to tame it. This process is relatively simple since all you need is several repeated attempts to mount it (for which the chances of success gradually increase) until your noble steed deigns to lit you sit on its back, showing his consent with a volley of little hearts.

All that's left is for you to stick a saddle on it and galop off to the forests and hills!

Note that you can accelerate training by feeding the animal sugar, wheat, apple, golden carrot, golden apple or straw blocks.

The Pigs

It is also possible to ride and control a pig by equipping it with a saddle and by using a carrot on a stick. The recipe simply requires you to combine a fishing rod with a carrot. After that all you need is to select your pig, call him Harold and climb on board to enjoy your fun new porky companion!
