Arthas, the Lich King Skills and Abilities - Heroes of the Storm

Arthas Menethil, the Lord of the Scourge, is a warrior from the Warcraft franchise. The former crown prince of Lordaeron and the protegé of Uther the Lightbringer, he was corrupted by his sword Frostmourne and the massacre of his people by the living dead. He then served the Lich King, he ended up fusing with him at the end of Warcraft III: Frozen Throne and became a new entity.

The Fall

Arthas Menethil was the son of Terenas Menethil II, King of Lordaeron and crown Prince of the most prosperous human kingdom at the time. He was also a renouned paladin, Knight of the Silver Hand, tutored by Uther the Lightbringer. A promising leader and Knight, he lost his way on the path of vengeance.

The invasion of the Plague of Living Dead during the third war (Warcraft III) cost the kingdom of Lordaeron dearly, very dearly. Unable to hold back the hordes of living dead and forced to watch his people be massacred, Arthas and little by little began to lose his mind. Everything began in Stratholme. Accompanied by Uther and his ex-fiancé Jaina Proudmoore, a Kirin Tor mage, Arthas becomes mad when he realised that the city had already been contaminated and decides to erase it from the map, non-infected inhabitants included. Released by Uther and Jaina before the carnage, Arthas meets a Dread Lord, Mal'Ganis, who provokes him into a duel and after a brief fight tells him to join him in Northrend to fulfil his destiny and get rid of the Plague.

Arthas sees red, assembles his army and follows Mal'Ganis. Once arrived in Northrend, his friend Muradin Bronzebeard tells him of a legendary sword, Frostmourne, which has the necessary power to destroy Mal'Ganis. But when Arthas and Muradin find the sword, the dwarf warrior very quickly understands that the sword is cursed and tells Arthas to turn back. But his rage is too strong. Arthas ignores his friend's warnings, seizes the sword and falls forever under the influence of the Lich King, Lord of the Plague. He finds Mal'Ganis and destroys him to the great surprise of the Dread Lord who has not anticipated the betrayal of the Lich King towards the Burning Legion.

His revenge accomplished, Arthas lost his mind and after wandering the frozen wastelands, the prince took the path back to Lordaeron. During the hommage made to him for putting an end to the assault of the Plague in the capital, Arthas plunged Frostmourne into his father's heart and killed the entire population of the city, turning them into living dead. With his new army, Arthas brought desoltaion to the Eastern Kingdoms, reaching the homeland of the High Elves of Quel'Thalas, transforming Sylvannas Windrunner into a banshee and commiting a genocide from which the elves had difficulty returning.

After the destruction created in Azeroth, Arthas was called upon by the Lich King in Northrend. Illidan and his army were knocking at the door of the Frozen Throne in Icecrown, the throne/prison of the lord of the living dead. Arthas won his duel against the fallen Night Elf and freed the Lich King from his icy prison by putting on his helmet, which fused their souls together to create a new one: Arthas, the Lich King. He was finally defeated by Tirion Fordring, helped by World of Warcraft players in the expansion Wrath of the Lich King.

Arthas' abilities: The Prince and the frost

Arthas is a warrior with some very effective frost CC, a lot of damage and an unusual ability to take damage. He pays for his strengths with a certain lack of speed and a clear lack of a gap closer. However once he gets in range, his frost and necromancy spells while ensure that his enemies can no longer escape the claws of the biting cold of Northrend...
