Nords Heroes of the North: Guide to Gear and Upgrading

Tips for Nords: Heroes of the North

In Nords: Heroes of the North, gear is really important to taking down your enemies and beign a formidable warrior. The free-to-play game features loads of different options for gear and upgrades, and we are here to give you some tips to be efficient.

First off, the best way to get new gear is to play the battlegrounds. Every time you complete a battleground you get rewarded with various things to help make your gear collection better. You can get gear, chests (which include gear), and keys to open the chests. So, what types of gear is it possible to get?

Types of Gear

Once you’ve received your battleground rewards, you will get a selection of gear appropriate for you. There are 4 different types of gear that you can get, and they all give bonuses to the different units in the game:

  • White: This is the most basic gear. This gear will only give bonuses to Northmen, so is mainly useful in the early stages of the game.
  • Green: This is the next level up, and can give bonuses to Northmen and Orcs.
  • Blue: The second best type of gear, this gear can give bonuses to the previous two races, but also elves.
  • Purple: This gear is the best in the game. Purple gear is the stuff you want to be getting from battlegrounds. This will give bonuses to mighty dragons, as well as all of the other races

Something that new players don’t always know, is that you will only get gear for units that you can currently produce. If you can’t make any elves, then you won’t get gear that benefits that race. For example, you won’t see any Dragon gear until you can produce Rockwings.

Equipping and Upgrading

Equipping the gear is pretty simple, you just open up the menu, and offensive gear (weapons) goes on the left side, and defensive gear (helms) go on the right. Upgrading gear is a whole different story. When you upgrade your gear it takes a long time, and uses Shards to upgrade (get them by breaking down old gear). This means that you’re better off only upgrading the Purple quality and it can be used by dragons; this method will be more efficient in the long run.
