Soul Seeker: Prelude to War Tips & Hack for Coins & Gems

Soul Seeker is a Role Play game developed by Com2uS, a company known for other games such as Summoner Wars, Dragon Knights or Soccer Spirits. The game is available on both mobile device leading platforms and it has been downloaded for more than 1 million times. Soul Seeker has an average rating of 4.2 out of 5 on Google Play and on Apple’s App Store, 4 and a half stars from a maximum of 5. In order to run at normal parameters, the game requires an Android version of at least 2.3.3 or, for Apple devices, iOS 6.0 or later.

In Soul Seeker you take the role of a “summoner” that commands armies and heroes having the sole purpose of conquering the world. The game is an action-oriented RPG and the player will encounter various RPG elements. You fight, you explore, you craft and you collect. The game is pretty solid and has a lot of interesting features.

In order to play Soul Seeker you are not required to create an account but I strongly recommend it because that way you ensure no data loss in case you change your mobile device or for some reason you uninstall and then reinstall Soul Seeker. The game currently doesn’t support linking with a social account of any sort.

When you are talking about resources and currency, Soul Seeker is a very complex title. Because of its nature, the game has a lot of different resources and fortunately for people who like to spend real money on virtual stuff, there are a lot of microtransactions. The premium currency is called Gems and with it you can buy almost anything in Soul Seeker so naturally you need to purchase them with a real currency. The price for them varies starting from $2.99 in exchange of 72 Gems and going up to $99.99 for 2,800 Gems.  If you don’t want to spend money, you can get free gems by doing various tasks but it is much harder this way.

Cheats & Tips for Soul Seeker: Prelude to War

  • It doesn’t really matter who you pick as a starting hero. They are all balanced and you can choose the one that you like the most.
  • Have a balanced team setup. There is pointless to only train your main hero and leave your support heroes with 1 or 2 stars because their power is added to your main hero power.
  • If you follow the above tip, make sure your support heroes have a lot of HP (Health), Attack and Defense because those are the stats that are “transferred” to your main hero.
  • That manual control you have is pretty handy when you are required to dodge enemy missiles and projectiles. Don’t abuse the “auto” button.

  • Make sure you have a healer or two in your party. They may seem weak but they keep your other members alive.
  • If you encounter goblins during your fights make sure you kill them. That big sack they are carrying always contains a nice piece of equipment.
  • Make sure you “Attack” the treasure chests that are scattered all around the world. You get extra coins for doing so.
  • In order to combine two heroes, they are required to be on a maximum level on both experience and upgrade sections.
  • Don’t forget to keep an eye on your gear. The bonus you get from the equipment is essential in fights.
  • Play the mini-games. Goblin Marble is a mini-game where you are required to roll a dice and get a free prize. Why shouldn’t you do it? It’s free.

Soul Seeker Review

When I first heard of Soul Seeker I was convinced that I will review a very anime-like game (or at least Asian oriented) because the developers reside in Asia. That wasn’t necessarily a bad thing because I consider myself a fan of their culture but to be honest I was surprised by the game’s quality. It is true that it isn’t an anime game but I can say that it is very solid.

One of the things I find most interesting about Soul Seeker is that there are hundreds of heroes and that you are able to use tons (maybe I exaggerate a little) of different strategies. Also, because you need to reach level 15 so you can use a 5-members team, you are most likely play a lot Soul Seeker. There isn’t a winning strategy so you must find one that is both rewarding and suited for your play style. I also like that there are different quests and achievements – one time only, daily, monthly and special events. You are always busy in Soul Seeker.

I really like the fact that at the beginning of the game you can choose from 5 different characters. As I mentioned before, it doesn’t really matter who you initially choose but what it does matter is the fact that you have a lot of options right from the start. That is a hint that you are going to play a complex game. I also like the mini game called Goblin Marble because all the prizes are consistent and you can play it from 4 to 4 hours (most of my heroes are received here).

There are a few things about Soul Seeker that are not that great either. Firstly, I think that you really need to be patient or to invest real money if you want to get powerful hero combinations. Is not necessarily a bad thing but in my opinion this needs a bit balancing. Paying money for premium stuff is fair but not like this. Secondly, I think is curious that the game doesn’t let you run a few programs (usually cheating trainers of some sort). I don’t like to cheat so normally this would be a more than welcome feature but I don’t feel really relaxed to permit an app to have this access over my mobile device. It makes you wonder what else it can do with your information and data. Lastly but not least, I don’t like the fact that you use a Key system in order to play and if you use all of them you must wait 5 minutes / key so you can be able to play again. If I want to continuously play an hour or so, I will be limited by this implementation – not cool.

Overall, Soul Seeker is a game I would recommend. It is relatively new but the Asian developers did a very nice job in my opinion and the game has the potential of becoming one of the best RPGs.

Ratings

Artwork: Soul Seeker gets a rating of 9 out of 10 for its artwork. The game has a very cartoonish and colorful theme but it looks so nice that it doesn’t really bug me (I usually tend to be annoyed by this kind of themes). The environment is a pleasure to the eye and it is surprisingly well-designed and the characters are looking really good. The animations are all nicely done and they feel somehow realistic. Soul Seeker is one of the few games that I can say it has an outstanding menu – everything is simple and neat and there aren’t any flashy buttons or weird annoying animations.

Music & SFX: The game gets a rating of 8 out of 10 at this section. The music the developers chose as a soundtrack is pretty decent and it suits the theme of Soul Seeker. I don’t want to be considered a grumpy reviewer but I would have appreciated a little bit more in terms of music – more songs, longer songs, I don’t really know…something. And that’s because at the moment the atmosphere is not as good as it should be. The sound effects are a good choice and I like that every skill has its own little effect. The voices of the characters are interesting and some of them are hilarious – good job on doing so.

Story/Originality: Soul Seeker gets a rating of 8 out of 10 here. I like the fact that the game has its own story but there is a small problem with it and that’s the similarity with the stories of most of RPGs on the market. I am not saying for a second that Soul Seeker is inspired from another game but it can’t be really tagged as a 100% authentic. There are a lot of interesting features and extra content the game has and that’s a good thing. The heroes are pretty original because they are weird and most of the time their skill set is odd but in a good way.

General Gameplay: I give the game a rating of 8 out of 10 for its gameplay. First of all I really want to give a shout out for the tutorial of the game. It is awesome and it is one of the few tutorials that effectively make the player “take a tour” through anything. However, Soul Seeker is still a pretty overwhelming game for new players so make sure you take your time in understanding the mechanics. The movement is realized with the help of a reassembly of a gamepad stick and that is an interesting idea. You will either love it or hate it. For the time I’ve played Soul Seeker I haven’t encountered any freezes, crashes or major bugs.

Addictiveness: Soul Seeker gets a rating of 9 out of 10 for its addictiveness. The game has all the elements that are required to be considered addictive. A long, interesting enough campaign, multiplayer implementation (not of the best but still it’s something), a lot of different events to keep the player entertained, various heroes and troops and a handful of extra content. One of the advantages of Soul Seeker is the fact that the difficulty is not that hard for an RPG game, at least at first. Being rather simple in the beginning helps the player to get used to the game and makes him “loyal”.

Overall, Soul Seeker gets a rating of 8.4 out of 10. The game is undoubtedly one of the best of its genre and it never stops to impress its players with continuous updates and interesting events.
