Lost Planet: Extreme Condition Game Guide & Walkthrough

Welcome to our unofficial Lost Planet: Extreme Territory strategy guide - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Welcome to our unofficial Lost Planet: Extreme Territory strategy guide. It includes a full walkthrough of all 11 single-player missions, a few general hints on gameplay and a complete list of target marks' locations.

Krzysztof "Lordareon" Gonciarz

Here's a few hints to help you make a good start with Lost Planet:

- The key to success in this game is thermal energy (T-ENG). If you have plenty of it, you can use VS' special abilities freely (double jumps, dashes) and be quite resistant to damage. You can't go wrong with T-ENG, it seems, so keep an eye on all places where it's bound to be hidden: containers, crates, barrels, and of course enemy remains. When facing a boss, it's good to have at least 3000 units of energy, and level design usually enables you to have even more than 9000 if you look for it closely.

- Learn to dash! Use [press left analog stick + A] all the time, it's a lifesaver. If you can perform that trick in the right moment, even the most powerful of weapons won't put a scratch on you.

- The general idea of fighting the Akrid is to target their weak spots, usually fluorescent orange or yellow (they change to red as they absorb damage). Most of the enemies can be killed without focusing on weak spots, but it's just a waste of time and ammo.

- Fighting VS is a tricky business. You always want to have some heavy weaponry when facing a mech, and if you don't, at least use grenades.

- When handling a VS, always remember that you can use two weapons at once. Learn to think of them independently.

- Remember to reload your rocket launcher! For some reason that's the only weapon that doesn't auto-reload.

- In the guide, I often suggest which weapon to use against a certain enemy - it might be the best solution (I hope so, at least), but still your personal preference should come in first. Use the weapons you like best and it'll be easier and more fun for you.

1 - Prologue - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and WalkthroughFollow Gale and use the anchor when told to, then follow the rest of the squad - Prologue - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Follow Gale and use the anchor when told to, then follow the rest of the squad. Wait for them to open the door and the hatch, then drop down using your rope. You'll be attacked by an Akrid - we'll be calling these guys "Beetles". They are easily defeated by shooting the glowing spot on their tails. Follow the squad and activate a Data Post there. You can also destroy the two flying Akrid nests on the walls for some T-ENG.

2 - Prologue - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and WalkthroughYou'll see a cut-scene featuring one heck of a monster, a nice little guy called Green Eye - Prologue - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

You'll see a cut-scene featuring one heck of a monster, a nice little guy called Green Eye. Run to the left, then turn right and go up the stairs to the right. Run through a few corridors until you reach another Data Post and two mechs. Get in one of them and follow the other one. You'll be attacked once again. Evade the monster's attacks, as you can't hurt it now. Soon a cut-scene will commence, ending the prologue.

3 - Prologue - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough4 - Prologue - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Start by gathering some thermal energy from the two barrels on the left, then get in the VS. Destroy the cars and more barrels along the way. Destroy the Akrid nests and kill all the spiders. A bit further you'll be attacked by an Akrid we'll call the Mantis. Its weak spots are the legs - you can shoot them off to weaken him, or concentrate on its abdomen. If you're really mean, you can shoot off both its legs and leave it.

1 - Mission 1 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and WalkthroughLeave the VS and enter the building - Mission 1 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Leave the VS and enter the building. There's a lot of exploding barrels in here, shoot them to deal with more spiders at a time. Destroy the nests, grab some ammo and activate a Data Post. Leave using the other exit, having destroyed the two cars that block the way.

Go forth. To the left you'll see a rocket launcher buried under the snow. You can take it, but you won't really need it now, so better stick to your machine gun and shotgun. Enter the nearby warehouse. You'll be attacked by another Mantis there, deal with it as you did with the one before. Blow up the door using the grenade and leave.

2 - Mission 1 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and WalkthroughA bit further you'll be attacked by some Beetles - Mission 1 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

A bit further you'll be attacked by some Beetles. Avoid their attacks, dash and shoot their tails. When you're done, use the anchor to get up the platform, then activate a Data Post.

You can shoot the rocks here to make them fall and crush the Akrid, but try not to get hurt. When you hear an avalanche, grapple up to the right to avoid it. Approach the cave. Ignore the Akrid that come out of it and enter.

3 - Mission 1 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and WalkthroughThere's a Gatling Gun to the right - it might come in handy - Mission 1 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

There's a Gatling Gun to the right - it might come in handy. Activate a Data Post. Go across the small bridge. Watch out so you don't fall, if you do, you'll have to go back and try again. Go across a goo-ish footbridge to reach the beehive of sorts.

Boss

The first boss in the game is obviously the easiest, but can still be quite troublesome for beginner players. It's a bigger version of a Beetle - its weak spot is the glowing sphere on its tail. It's better not to use a VS in here, so stay on foot if you can. Use a shotgun or a Gatling gun for this one.

4 - Mission 1 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and WalkthroughThe monster has two main attacks - a normal punch that it draws using its claws, and a spin attack, when it starts to spin around the room and drop rocks on you - Mission 1 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

The monster has two main attacks - a normal punch that it draws using its claws, and a spin attack, when it starts to spin around the room and drop rocks on you. The former can be easily countered with a grenade: if you see that its starts to spin, just throw one at it and it will be knocked over, ready for you to unleash your lead on it. Claw attacks can also be avoided quite quickly, just use dashes and you'll be fine. Always try to get behind this enemy. If you're out of T-ENG, check out some eggs around the room.

When you reduce its health by one half, its attacks will start to be faster and deadlier, so you'll have to be more agile as well. Remember not to let it spin, as it's difficult to avoid getting hurt once it does.

5 - Mission 1 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough6 - Mission 1 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

A bit ahead on the path you'll see a little roof that you can climb, there's a shotgun, so grab it. It'll come in handy as you'll be attacked by a large number of Beetles in here. Now it might seem tricky if you're not used to controls yet, but remember that one shotgun shell is just enough to kill each one of them, as long as its shot from a close distance directly at the weak spot.

1 - Mission 2 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and WalkthroughWhen you defeat them all, activate a Data Post and go further - Mission 2 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

When you defeat them all, activate a Data Post and go further. It doesn't get any easier, you'll encounter some more Beetles and some Mantises. Look around for some energy containers and a Data Post, then turn left and shoot your way through a membrane into a tunnel.

Activate yet another Data Post. To the left you'll a hangar in which you'll find a VS. If you destroy one of the cars to the right of the street, you'll get a VS Shotgun. Defeat the Akrid and the snow pirates ahead and go forth until you reach a ruined building that you can enter. Activate a Data Post here and go inside.

2 - Mission 2 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and WalkthroughUse the anchor to get to the top and enter a bridge - Mission 2 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Use the anchor to get to the top and enter a bridge. Activate a Data Post and shoot your way through the snow pirates ahead. To the right you'll see a small VS, GTF-13M model. It can transform into a sand speeder. Use it to fight the remaining enemies. You'll also find a sniper rifle somewhere ahead, use it to get rid of the distant pirates, and go across the footbridge.

You'll be attacked by a strong mech in here. It's best to defeat it using Gum Grenades that you can find at the end of the bridge. Go inside the tunnel.

3 - Mission 2 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and WalkthroughYou'd do best to anchor up to the platform in the middle and use a sniper rifle from there to get rid of all the enemies in here, you are clearly outnumbered - Mission 2 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

You'd do best to anchor up to the platform in the middle and use a sniper rifle from there to get rid of all the enemies in here, you are clearly outnumbered. Steadily move forwards, until you reach the exit, which will lead you to a pirate fortress.

Grab a sniper rifle and use it do destroy a barrel near some soldiers nearby. There's a VS to the right, it'll attack you once the alarm is raised. Use your rifle to shoot its pilot, and you'll be able to get the mech for yourself. Go along the right path, shooting enemies from a distance. Don't enter the VS yet, instead take out the two rocket turrets that keep shooting you (you can do this by walking up to them and shooting the pilots from behind). Activate a data post here.

4 - Mission 2 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and WalkthroughGo back to the VS and use it to storm the fortress - Mission 2 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Go back to the VS and use it to storm the fortress. Defeat all the remaining pirates and walk across the bridge. Leave the VS and enter.

When you start to wreak havoc inside, a boss will appear (you can tell by its health bar appearing on the bottom of the screen). It's just a VS, though a bit tougher than the other ones. Before dealing with it, try to eliminate all other pirates, including 2 or 3 VS.

Mission 2

5 - Mission 2 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and WalkthroughThis time the strategy is all but precise, just fight the enemy as you fight any other VS in the game - Mission 2 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

This time the strategy is all but precise, just fight the enemy as you fight any other VS in the game. It's best to use a VS armed with a Rocket Launcher and a Shotgun. Try to stay close to the enemy, as he's quite quick and will try to confuse you with his high jumping and all. Be agile - jump all the time and use the afterburners. After a few accurate hits the boss will be history.

Look around the area and destroy all the energy containers you can find. Activate a Data Post. Don't use the VS, just walk past the fence you can see before you. You'll be attacked by a giant worm. It's one of the toughest fights in the game, but fortunately you don't actually HAVE to fight it - it's a bonus achievement that we'll deal with a little bit later.

1 - Mission 3 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and WalkthroughIf this is your first playthrough, this fight might be too difficult for you, as it requires very precise dashing and targeting - Mission 3 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

If this is your first playthrough, this fight might be too difficult for you, as it requires very precise dashing and targeting. For now, let's just run to the other side of the snowfield. The worm will attack you several times. While his tail attack (hot rocks) is very lame and you can avoid it by simply running, in order to evade the head attack you'll probably have to dash. If you don't manage to do it, it'll eat you on the spot and no amount of Thermal Energy will save you.

2 - Mission 3 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and WalkthroughWhen you reach the stairs, activate the Data Post and go further left, to the ruined hangar you can see on one of the screenshots above - Mission 3 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

When you reach the stairs, activate the Data Post and go further left, to the ruined hangar you can see on one of the screenshots above. Get some T-ENG from the containers around and approach the building. That'll trigger a cut-scene and a boss encounter.

3 - Mission 3 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and WalkthroughThis fight is very similar to the one you fought at the end of Mission 2, only a little bit more difficult - Mission 3 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Boss

This fight is very similar to the one you fought at the end of Mission 2, only a little bit more difficult. It's hard to win without a VS, so try not to loose it too soon (there are two of them in the room if you need another one). It's once again very handy to use a rocket launcher and a shotgun simultaneously. You can find the latter outside the building - you might want to take the fight there, as it seems a little bit easier when you have more movement freedom. The most deadly of her attacks is the laser beam, you'll have to jump to avoid it. Generally it's best to jump a lot during this fight, or even use your VS' abilities to hover in the air. Direct fire exchange can be risky, but if you're the one with a VS shotgun, then you have nothing to worry about.

4 - Mission 3 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and WalkthroughDefeating the worm takes a lot of practice and can be somewhat frustrating at first - Mission 3 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Killing the worm

Defeating the worm takes a lot of practice and can be somewhat frustrating at first. You have to be very accurate with the weapon launcher - despite the fact the targets are big, you must hit them very directly in order to take them out, and it isn't easy at all. You might have noticed weak spots on the worm's body - yellow rings all over its sides. These are the ones you have to take out. The problem is that the monster is always on the move, and the only weapon strong enough to harm it is the rocket launcher (remember to reload after each shot!). The best moment to strike it is after successfully evading the head attack - you then have 3 or 4 seconds during which the enemy is almost completely still. When it sticks out its tail, the goal is quite similar, just approach it and shoot one of the weak spots.

The worm goes down when you destroy approximately 6 weak spots. Rockets are to be found all around the plane, so don't worry about that. When you manage to defeat it, you'll have about 10 seconds of peace, and then... another one appears. Fortunately, to unlock the achievement you just have to kill one of them, so don't bother and run to finish the stage.

HINT: This achievement is unlocked after finishing the mission, so if you chose it through Mission Select screen just to get that unlocked, you still have to fight Basil.

Go forth and start to eliminate all the spiders and their nests. From time to time you'll see a giant moth flying over the valley and dropping egg-bombs. They're not too dangerous, but keep them in mind. At the end of the valley you'll see a rocket launcher buried under the snow. Take it and use the rope to drop down through the hole in the ground. While hanging, use rockets, grenades and explosive barrels to take out as many spiders as you can. They are all over the place, and so are their nests.

1 - Mission 4 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and WalkthroughGo to the next room and use the anchor to get up - Mission 4 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Go to the next room and use the anchor to get up. Take the plasma grenades. You'll be facing some heavy snow pirate resistance in the next hall. Stand in the corridor that leads there and take out as many of them as you can from distance. Once you're in the room, immediately turn left and use plasma grenades to destroy the VS. Grapple up to get on the crates. Two Beetles will crawl into the room and make some mess. Use that distraction to take out the remaining opposition and ten leave using the other exit.

2 - Mission 4 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and WalkthroughDrop down and kill the pirates that are standing on the ledge to the right (you might have to change camera view using the d-pad for this) - Mission 4 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Drop down and kill the pirates that are standing on the ledge to the right (you might have to change camera view using the d-pad for this). Shoot down the exploding squids as well. Jump down to the lower platform and once it starts moving grapple up to the ledge where the pirates were standing. Enter the tunnel at the end of the path and get into the new VS, GTB-22. It's faster and can jump higher than the models you've already seen.

3 - Mission 4 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and WalkthroughUse the double jump to get to the top of the room and jump through the open roof - Mission 4 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Use the double jump to get to the top of the room and jump through the open roof. Once you're there, you can exchange your mech for a new one (it's buried under the snow). There's also a VS Laser Rifle here and a Data Post. Jump up using the nearby big rock as a footstool.

Boss

This fight can be divided into two parts, with the first one being very easy and the second a bit more troublesome. Get yourself a Rocket Launcher and a Laser Rifle. Your target is the wasp's bright yellow abdomen, you have to show some accuracy in order to strike it. It's good to load up the laser's power by holding the trigger. When you take about a half of the insect's health, it will position itself in the middle of the sky and charge on you with its stinger. This attack is quite devastating, so do all you can to jump above the wasp when it's onto it. You'll find two more VS and a few Rocket Launchers around to help you. The second phase of the duel is much more difficult, because the wasp's attack get faster and deadlier. Do tend to jump a lot, that's the best evasion to most of its attacks.

4 - Mission 4 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough5 - Mission 4 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

First you have to climb up the mountain side to the left. Jump from one platform to another, fighting off the spiders. Watch out for the falling boulders. Along the way, grab the VS Laser Rifle. When you're at the top, you can immediately go into the cavern, or take some time to get another optional achievement, called Moth Hunter. Yup, the goal is to strike down that gargantuan moth that's been flying around you since the previous mission. Here is the best place to do that. Use the laser rifle to target the glowing points on its body (you don't have to be precise, shoot it a few times with a loaded laser charge and you'll see the effects), then concentrate on its feelers. They are harder to hit, but fortunately you don't have to destroy them all. A few accurate shots will do the thing. To maximize your chances, wait for the moth to fly directly above you.

HINT: Just like with the Worm Killer, you have to finish the level after killing the moth in order to unlock the achievement. Keep that in mind if you used the Mission Select option just to get it done.

1 - Mission 5 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and WalkthroughEnter the nearby cave - Mission 5 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Enter the nearby cave. Activate the Data Post and go right, along the ledge that'll take you all the way to the top of this huge room. Enter a VS and go to the end of the path, then enter the tunnel to the right. Inside you'll find another VS. Go back to the main room the other way and jump right to the other ledge. Go further and eventually you'll end up in a room with a white ice pillar. Shoot through the goo blocking one of the passages and then go through it.

2 - Mission 5 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and WalkthroughThis boss can initially seem to be quite difficult, it certainly requires some practice - Mission 5 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Boss

This boss can initially seem to be quite difficult, it certainly requires some practice. First of all you'll definitely want to use a VS on that. A Rocket Launcher would be welcome, as much as a second, faster weapon. In order to deal damage to this creature, you first have to shoot off one of its legs, and when it lowers its head, hit it as hard as you can, preferably using a rocket. You'll have to repeat the whole process for at least three times before it is finally beaten. Stay close to the enemy, because some of his attacks won't harm you this way. You can also try to shoot the glowing stalactites above it - they can quickly cut off its legs, but you need some luck for them to work well.

3 - Mission 5 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough4 - Mission 5 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Start with activating a Data Post. Grab the plasma grenades and start to battle the Nevec troops ahead. Throw grenades at a VS that's standing on the balcony to the left, then use the anchor do get there. There's another Data Post. Get yourself a plasma gun from one of the bodies and use it as a sniper rifle to defeat enemies from a distance.

1 - Mission 6 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and WalkthroughYou have to go along the street of this ruined city, defending against lots of enemy soldiers - Mission 6 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

You have to go along the street of this ruined city, defending against lots of enemy soldiers. Try to use the anchor whenever possible and take advantage of plasma rifle's sniper mode. At the end of the street, enter the passage to the right. Go through the corridor and eventually you'll find Wayne's father's VS. That will trigger a cut-scene.

2 - Mission 6 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and WalkthroughYou can't leave your VS now, due to low temperature (now that's a poor argument, Capcom) - if it's destroyed, you go down with it - Mission 6 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

You can't leave your VS now, due to low temperature (now that's a poor argument, Capcom) - if it's destroyed, you go down with it. Go through the long corridor and reach the boss battle arena.

Boss

Green Eye is truly a difficult boss, but the most surprising thing about this battle is that you'd do best to arm yourself with two plain Gatling Guns instead of any heavier weaponry. First you have to destroy all the weak spots on both sides of the enemy's body. When you succeed, new 4 weak spots will appear on its forhead. These are your next targets. The third phase of the battle is similar to the second, you still have to target the forehead, but instead of a traditional weak spot you see something that looks like a brain in there.

The enemy gets harder and harder every minute. Remember to use your dash (Y) often, it will save you a bunch of times during this battle. You need to dash in order to avoid the icy spikes attack that it unleashes from time to time. It also has a stun attack - you have to learn to recognize the sound it makes before performing it, and jump before it manages to stun you (it doesn't matter how far from the monster you are, you have to be in mid-air to get away with it).

3 - Mission 6 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough4 - Mission 6 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

There's a huge area before you that's virtually crawling with Nevec forces. First shoot down some nearby soldiers and take a Plasma Gun from one of their bodies - it's the best non-VS weapon you can think of on this level. In a hangar to the right there's some good quality equipment and a VS. Steadily fight your way through the enemies, don't rush or you'll regret it. If you loose a VS, look around to find another one, there's plenty of them in the vicinity. When you get near the enemy base, few more mechs will emerge. Destroy them and enter the base to trigger a cut-scene.

1 - Mission 7 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and WalkthroughRemember this place - Mission 7 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Remember this place? Yup, here's where you started Mission 3. On a ruined truck up ahead there's a great VS to take over, a PTX-140. Take control over it and go through the snow planes once again. This time it won't be the worm bothering you - instead, you'll be facing Mantises, some of them bigger and stronger than those you've seen before. When you reach the Nevec base on the other side of the plane, things will start to get really hot. You don't have to defeat everyone around here, really. Just hurry up towards the door up the stairs and enter. You should manage to make it, provided the Nevec forces are busy with the Akrid.

2 - Mission 7 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and WalkthroughWhen you're back in the base, go down the stairs and defeat the soldiers there - Mission 7 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

When you're back in the base, go down the stairs and defeat the soldiers there. If you don't have it yet, grab w Plasma Rifle. You'll encounter a new type of enemies here - probes. They don't attack you until you cross their red laser sensors. Try to avoid them, even though they aren't really a threat until you get the attention of more than 4 at a time. When fighting them, wait before they open up their shields and then shoot them.

3 - Mission 7 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and WalkthroughDon't go even lower, instead use the anchor to get to a platform to the right - Mission 7 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Don't go even lower, instead use the anchor to get to a platform to the right. Defeat the enemies there and go along the wall. This way you'll avoid a lot of probes that are patrolling the path below. Drop down when you reach the end of the path, near the two missile turrets. Destroy them both and defeat all other enemies that stand on your way. Shoot the hangar door to the right (it's a bit above the floor level) and grapple up there.

Activate a Data Post, grab some T-ENG from the containers and enter a VS. You'll be taken to a boss battle.

Boss

Once again you're facing a stronger version of a common VS (though you might not know that yet). This enemy is accompanied by a few probes; take some time to shoot them down off the bat. Arm your mech with a Rocket Launcher and a Shotgun (you can find both weapons around the arena). The latter can be used to quickly take down the probes. Attack the boss with two weapons at once. Whenever it changes into its driller form, jump up to avoid the attack and take the opportunity to shoot it. It's quite an easy target when it's positioning himself on one of the higher platforms in the middle of the area.

Attack only when you are sure that you won't miss. The enemy is quite slow and steady, so try to approach him as close as you can and take advantage of your shotgun. If you loose a VS, grab a Rocket Launcher and finish the job with it.

4 - Mission 7 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough5 - Mission 7 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Go forth, eliminating the flying Akrid and their nests. Use the anchor to enter the first hangar. You'll encounter a new type of enemy in here - a Scorpion. Its weak spot is the link between the tail and the body. There's a Data Post up in this room, grapple up to get to it. Proceed further along the road, fighting off some more enemies. Enter the base.

1 - Mission 8 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and WalkthroughActivate another Data Post - Mission 8 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Activate another Data Post. There's a large group of spiders and scorpions up ahead - you can make it easier by blowing up some explosive barrels between them. Drop all the way down in the big hall and secure a four-legged VS, a GAB-25M. Leave through the gate ahead and turn left. Go along the road to the end.

2 - Mission 8 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and WalkthroughTransform into a driller-tank (Y) and go across the bridges leading over the lava - Mission 8 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Transform into a driller-tank (Y) and go across the bridges leading over the lava. Activate a Data Post when you leave the building from the other side. You'll be attacked by a bigger version of a Beetle. The trick to beating him is the same, only its blows are more dangerous. Go past the lava lake. You have to get through this area and get on a highway that you can see on the right. If you want to, you can switch your VS to something faster. When you're on the highway, approach the gate on the right.

3 - Mission 8 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and WalkthroughYou're in a corridor that's patrolled by some probes - Mission 8 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

You're in a corridor that's patrolled by some probes. Try to avoid their sensors and board a VS. From now on you'll be fighting Nevec forces instead of the Akrid. Defeat the two mechs that attack you a bit further and go along the ruined road. At the end of it you can grab something that's easily the lamest thing to use on multiplayer matches in Lost Planet: the Homing Laser. You can use it to shoot down the VS below.

4 - Mission 8 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and WalkthroughDrop down and go to a tunnel on the right - Mission 8 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Drop down and go to a tunnel on the right. Inside you'll be attacked by a GAB25 and a few probes. Jump down and be sure to grab a new type of VS weapon - EM Laser - then proceed further. There's a VS with a Homing Laser before you. Your only chance is to strike it down it the EM Laser, as it prevents it from loading its weapon. So, whenever you see that it's starting to charge, fire away and you'll stop it. Defeat one more VS and board a mech that's standing in this room. Be sure to arm it with an EM Laser. In the next room you'll have to destroy even more mechs. On the left side of the room there's another EM - grab it as well, thus arming yourself with two of these VS-killers.

Boss

This battle can be very difficult if you don't have the two EM Lasers that I suggested to bring along. Your enemy is a slightly bigger GAB-type VS. First of all, eliminate all the common GABs wandering around the arena, so that they don't interfere. Be sure to fetch the T-ENG from their remains.

5 - Mission 8 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and WalkthroughThe main boss' attacks are more deadly when you are standing on the ground, so jump as often as you can afford to (T-ENG - Mission 8 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

The main boss' attacks are more deadly when you are standing on the ground, so jump as often as you can afford to (T-ENG!). Attack it only when it's in the mech form - you can't do much against its driller form (the only exception is when you can hit its back). Its most devastating attack are the drills, don't let it catch you with them (jumping is the best way to evade it). Be always on the move, and you should be able to avoid getting hit. Use the EM Lasers to destroy it, they'll do the thing surprisingly quickly.

The beginning of this mission can be awfully difficult, there's a LOT of Nevec troops in here and you have no other way but to shoot right through them. Go along the highway. Grab the Sniper Rifle and a Plasma Gun, activate a Data Post. Destroy all the energy containers and trucks.

When you reach the other side of the highway, drop down to the right. You have to reach the base entrance up ahead. There're few mechs on your way. The only option is to fight them all on foot. A Plasma Rifle plus grenades should do the trick. The one on the higher platform is armed with a Homing Laser, so shoot it so quickly that it doesn't have the chance to load the weapon. When the coast is clear, use the anchor to get up there.

2 - Mission 9 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and WalkthroughWhen you're inside, jump down in the first room to get a Gatling Gun - Mission 9 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

When you're inside, jump down in the first room to get a Gatling Gun. In the next room also jump down, but this time it'll lead you to a passage into a high shaft. Drop to the bottom - you can slowly lower yourself one platform at a time or jump all the way down at once (watch out not to fall into the lava). Board a GAB and drill (right trigger) through the blocked passage. Turn left at the t-junction.

3 - Mission 9 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and WalkthroughProceed further, dropping lower and lower - Mission 9 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Proceed further, dropping lower and lower. When you finally reach a huge room with lots of spiders and squids in it, leave your GAB and grapple up to get to a hangar with a brand new PTX-140.

4 - Mission 9 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and WalkthroughGet a Gatling Gun and a Rocket Launcher (your new VS came unarmed), and then go forth - Mission 9 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Get a Gatling Gun and a Rocket Launcher (your new VS came unarmed), and then go forth. You'll find yourself in a room with a Data Post and some powerful Akrid. When you're done here, shoot through the goo that's blocking the passage and drop down right into the next boss battle.

Boss

This enemy is quite respectable when it comes to size and appearance, but proves to be surprisingly easy after all. Get yourself a VS Laser Rifle and a VS Shotgun. Use both these weapons at once to shoot the joints on its legs. In order to deal real damage to it, you have to bring it down by destroying two of its legs in a short period of time (the second one has to be cut off before the first grows back). Its not that difficult, just stay close to the enemy and constantly shoot the legs. When it comes to defense, all that you have to think about is not to go under the spider's body, because it can easily trap you in there and then do a lot of unpleasant stuff. Don't jump, but use the afterburner to quickly dash around the arena.

5 - Mission 9 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and WalkthroughWhen you manage to make the spider fall down, attack the large weak spot on its back - Mission 9 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

When you manage to make the spider fall down, attack the large weak spot on its back. You should manage to take about 1/3 of its health, meaning the whole process has to be repeated more or less three times.

Part I

Gather some T-ENG from the containers up ahead and get into the VS. Jump down, where you'll face a large group of Akrid elites. Activate a Data Post and enter the tunnel, you can switch your VS for a better one here. Jump through the hole in the roof and head towards the light up in the cavern. You'll see a hole in which you can drop, do so and follow the corridor until you reach a path labeled Area 011. You'll end up in an underground city, or at least what's left of it now. Turn left and go down through the tunnel.

1 - Mission 10 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and WalkthroughThere's a huge Mantis-like Akrid here - if you don't have a VS anymore, just skip the fight and run towards a ruined building (right screenshot below) - Mission 10 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

There's a huge Mantis-like Akrid here - if you don't have a VS anymore, just skip the fight and run towards a ruined building (right screenshot below). Enter it and drop all the way down. Grab a Laser Rifle and attach it to a VS down there. Board the mech and proceed further, only to find yourself engaged in a boss battle.

2 - Mission 10 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and WalkthroughThis battle can be divided into two phases - Mission 10 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Boss I

This battle can be divided into two phases. The first one is to eliminate the feelers. It's best to do so on foot, so leave you VS for later and start to attack them. Whenever you deal enough damage to a feeler, the monster will withdraw it through a tunnel in the floor. Enter that tunnel and his the boss' body from there (it's good to have a chargable weapon, like VS Laser Rifle, you can load a shot when entering the tunnel). You'll have to do this two times for each feeler. When you destroy the feelers from the inside, the boss won't draw them out anymore and you'll be able to attack it directly.

3 - Mission 10 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and WalkthroughThe second phase is very simple - get in the VS and try to jump and hover all the time, throwing everything you've got at the Akrid's red head whenever it shows it from under the shell - Mission 10 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

The second phase is very simple - get in the VS and try to jump and hover all the time, throwing everything you've got at the Akrid's red head whenever it shows it from under the shell. It won't be able to take much, so you'll quickly be done with it. Your main concern in the second phase are the lesser Akrid wandering around the arena, including the electro-charged squids. Don't mind them, focus on the boss and keep jumping. When you defeat the monster, go through the door that'll be revealed behind its body.

Part II

Grab the EM Laser and activate a Data Post. Go forth and destroy the turrets. You'll end up in a huge industrial area in which Nevec forces are fighting the Akrid. Take advantage of the mess and take everyone out one by one. You'll find a few Data Posts here, as well as any VS type you can think of. When you're ready to proceed, go down (looking at the PDA map).

4 - Mission 10 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and WalkthroughJump down to the VS storage area - sure a lot of mechs here - Mission 10 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Jump down to the VS storage area - sure a lot of mechs here. Fortunately most of them are offline. Defeat all the enemies and reach the opposite end of the hall. You'll see a passage labeled Area 011. Jump down there to meet the gruesome Bandero.

Boss II

Bandero can be a pain if you don't press him enough from the very beginning. Arm yourself with a VS Shotgun and an EM Laser (it's to the left of where you start the fight), and then charge. Get close to the enemy and stay that way, he's much easier like that than from a distance. When he uses his lame paralyzing attack, back up a few steps and let him have it.

5 - Mission 10 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and WalkthroughHe has a wide variety of attacks, including plasma, rockets and probes - you really don't want him to start using it all - Mission 10 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

He has a wide variety of attacks, including plasma, rockets and probes - you really don't want him to start using it all. Be quick, attack him at once and try to take him out as soon as possible. The EM Laser should help you a lot. Don't mind the probes that are flying around the area, your goal is to defeat Bandero so quickly that they won't have a chance of harming you.

In this mission you'll be piloting a new type of mech, several times more powerful than all the ones you've seen so far. The first section of the level sees you flying up a huge shaft. The funny thing here is that you don't have to fight the enemies at all - just hit Y to start gaining height and after a while you'll be facing the as-evil-as-it-gets Isenberg.

1 - Mission 11 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and WalkthroughThis boss is VERY easy once you catch the rhythm in which you have to attack it - Mission 11 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

This boss is VERY easy once you catch the rhythm in which you have to attack it. Until you manage to learn that, he might be frustrating to fight. You have two attacks to choose from, drawn by holding either left or right trigger. No real differences between them as far as we know. The key to winning this battle is to feel the moment in which you let the trigger go, in other words: draw a punch. If you do that too soon or too slow, you'll be mercilessly countered.

2 - Mission 11 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and WalkthroughIsenberg has a few different moves - Mission 11 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Isenberg has a few different moves. His laser bursts can be easily evaded by flying parallel to himself. His rockets are quite slow and you should have no problem avoiding them or even shooting them down. The most troublesome of his attacks are the violet plasma beams that he summons after he looses some health. Avoiding them can seem tricky at first, but surely you'll have to get the hang of it.

3 - Mission 11 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and WalkthroughAll of the above won't be necessary, however, if you really catch the rhythm of the fight - he can be brought down so fast it's kind of disappointing that he's the final boss of such a fine game - Mission 11 - Walkthrough - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Game Guide and Walkthrough

All of the above won't be necessary, however, if you really catch the rhythm of the fight - he can be brought down so fast it's kind of disappointing that he's the final boss of such a fine game. I beat him on normal difficulty in, like, 40 seconds, getting away with it almost without a scratch. Surely you can do the same or even better.
