The Dreamfall Chapters - Book One: Reborn game guide contains lot of tips useful during this adventure with the sequel of The Longest Journey series. It is thorough, illustrated solution, which will guide you through all the actions that are needed to end this first episode of Dreamfall Chapters.

To make using this game guide easier to navigate, each chapter has been divided into subchapters with describing all tasks which heroes need to deal with. You can control two characters: Zoe Castillo, young girl living in Europolis and Kian Alvane, the Azadi warrior. In the final scene you can control also... a baby.

During the gameplay you need to make some hard choices and that will affect further story of characters. One of the most important decision is to choose one of two paths for Zoe. In each of them Zoe is working in another place, with another people, and she has also another style of dressing and haircut.

The Dreamfall Chapters - Book One: Reborn game guide contains:

  • detailed description of how to end this game;
  • explanation of all the puzzles;
  • all of important and mutually exclusive dialogue's options;
  • tasks from both paths;

Steering

You will find precise description of all functions for keys in the game menu, but is good to know that you can walk also by using PPM and run when both mouse buttons are held.

Interactions

To check all possible options you need to close to the object or character. From the distance you can see only a name or eye symbol.

Exploration

It is worth to examine active spots several times, because for each of them there are few comments with new information.

Conversation

When you end the dialogue with someone, it's good to talk her again (or even several times) and ask about new subjects to know more.

Decisions

Part of dialogue's options are mutually exclusive and player's choices have some consequences. In that case you will see an information that your interlocutor will remember your answer and it will affect for further relationship with that person. The most important are decisions with balance symbol. Before you choose an option you can read Zoe's thoughts and make a decision.

Goals

If you have no idea what to do next, check your goals (G key).

Journal

Zoe is writing a journal (J key) with notes about news and her thoughts. From this diary you can know a lot about her relation with friends. A new note is marked by a journal icon in the right bottom corner of the screen.

Europolis

The city is huge and full of interactive objects (in this episode the action has place in Propast district). It is worth to look around and examine everything. From this you can learn a lot about the social and political situation and many other things.

Maps

There is a lot of running through the city, so in some places you can find the interactive maps. After choosing a location you need to go, the map will show you the place (star symbol).

Game guide color marks

All objects you need to take are marked in red, alternative dialogue's lines - blue, the puzzle solutions and important information are bolded.

As Zoe Castillo close to the bed. Look at the chart (at the foot of the bed), a picture of the father (left bedside table), life support machine, a picture with Reza (right bedside table), flowers and at the Wonkers. Look at the comatose Zoe. It is worth to examine active objects several times, because for each of them there are few comments with new information.

You're inside a girl's nightmare. Zoe is standing on the bridge. Try to catch the falling girl by holding F key. The girl is falling too quickly, so after several tries (when Zoe says something about that), use the time slow option (hour-glass icon) and catch the girl (hand icon). Talk to her.

When the girl disappears, go into the next dream (darkness). Close to the man, who is sitting on the chair and talk to him (to see an icon for talk or other interactions you need to close to the object). He's scared of the darkness. Zoe tells him to follow her.

Close to the lantern and fire her with the Zoe 's light power (the circle with dots around it). The man will go to the lantern. Try to do the same with the next lantern. The light bulb won't fire for long, so use the light power and then the time slow power and run (the left Shift key) to the third one. You need to light it before the second one goes out.

Close to the edge and choose another dream (unknown). You're in little girl's bedroom. She is scared of the monster in the wardrobe. Talk to her - you need to decide to reassure her or scare her (she'll remember it).

Then read the mind of the girl. Look under her bed and use the light option on the bulb above the bed. The bulb is too weak, so use the light power on the object that is lying under the bed. Look again under the bed (from the left side of the bed) and take a torch. Click PPM on the torch and the icon hand or click LPM on the torch and use it with Zoe.

Use torch to light the picture on the wall. Take a key. Come to the wardrobe. The tentacles are too quick, so stand back or in the corner (you can't light the tentacles) and use the time slow option and then light the tentacles with the torch. Open the wardrobe by using the key and hand icon. Zoe will talk to the girl.

You are again in the Storytime. Close to Vagabond and talk to him. Choose whatever option you want to. The lines which will be remembered by the man: afraid or powerless, choice or consequence, acceptance or reluctance.

Go to the comatose Zoe. Look at her and try to read her mind. Look at the life support machine and use the hand icon with it. Then use time slow power with my vitals and do the same with comatose Zoe. Read Zoe's mind. That will start a discussion, if you choose an option, which stops a dialogue, read Zoe's mind again. To convince comatose Zoe choose: home and find out or so what.

Then choose if you want to go with the path that might be or the path that once was. This choice is important for the future. If you want to check what other players have done, click on the balance symbol.

As Kian during the conversation with Warden Murron choose whatever option you want to. The remembered will be: visit or silence (Kian remains silent), hang, behead or silence, silence or understand.

When the captain arrives, follow him (W, S, A, D keys or PPM) to the gate. Look at the dying prisoner (on the left side of the gate). Close to him and throw the guard off the prisoner. Talk with the dying man. You can thank him or ask if you can help him (that will be remembered). If you offer help, he asks about telling his family, you can promise you do that or not (another thing that will be remembered).

Search the dead guard. Take a key and a Shiv. Click the hand icon on the prisoner. You can kill him (this is what he's asking for) or let him live. Your choice will have consequences.

Back to the captain and open the gate with the key. Follow the captain.

You need to open another gate. Go to the right and take a broom. Go further, you will find an open cell. Look through the small window.

Take a pillow. In the inventory connect the broom with the pillow and then use it with the window. You'll receive an arrow.

Come back to the captain and open the gate with the arrow. Follow the captain. Try to open the gate with the arrow - it breaks, so use hand icon. Talk with Murron. To convince him choose: reason, practical and family. If you threaten him, he'll remember it. When Warden opens the door, you need to choose (it's important for the future actions) to kill him or not.

Follow the captain to the gate. After a conversation back to the lift. Take a napkin from the table. Pull the lever down. Use the napkin with the oily chain lift. Combine the napkin with broken arrow - you will get an oiled torch.

After the cutscene talk with Nela. You can get involved or not. Buy lunch, choose between pork sausages (Reza rather doesn't eat meat, but Zoe tries to him to like it) or cheese soup (Reza's favourite food). That will matter for Zoe's relationship with her boyfriend. You can talk with Nela again.

Go to the left. There is a map with Crowboy. Ask him about Reza's workplace (The Hand that Feeds). Go forward, down to the right and downstairs twice.

Turn right. You will find a Collapse memorial. Go to the left - this building is Reza's workplace. Go to the front (from the river's side) and enter the building.

Go to Reza and give him lunch or start a dialogue. You can talk about session or change subject (Reza remembers this). You can talk with Reza again, this time he remembers lines about Sofia.

Talk also with Sully, important line will be the one about clampdown, he'll remember also if Zoe just ends the dialogue. If you chat him again, he remembers line about loneliness.

Leave Reza's workplace.

Go outside, pass the memorial and turn right.

Close to Mira. Activate a bot (called Shitbot). After short conversation go outside.

Choose one of bot modules to test (e.g. human interaction). Follow Shitbot. When you hear name of Metro Station (from the tourist), pick a direction for Shitbot (on the right side from the tourist - direction 3). Shitbot will fly up.

When Shitbot aims the target, follow him. You will come to the alley, where you find a burnt-out fuse. Look at the maintenance instruction on the right and on the replacement fuses. Talk with Shitbot and select an interaction target (a burnt-out fuse on the bottom left). Talk with the bot again.

Choose security program. After a cutscene follow Shitbot to the Pandemonium. Push the buzzer. After conversation with Mira, talk with Wit, if you want to and leave the place.

Go to the left, pass the memorial and turn right. Go upstairs (on the left side). Then turn left, go upstairs (on the right side of the advertisement). Turn right, pass another advertisement, turn left and go forward.

Go through the glass door and talk with Ada. Look at the algae. You receive a task: putting the algae into the river in three places. You can talk with Ada again, she remembers a line about dinner.

Leave the lab, Kidbot will go with Zoe. Talk with her and then follow the bot.

You'll come to the Reza's workplace. Talk with Kidbot. Zoe scan huge part of the river and find three places with pollutants. Talk again with Kidbot and follow her.

Follow the bot to the next place. You need to move the barrels.

Click on the bot and on the green square. Talk with Kidbot and follow her to the third place.

Kidbot finds three spots. Aim one of them. Kidbot will make a mistake. You need to control Kidbot and choose the right directions for pushing the algae.

You can do this one square by one (no matter when you start, the last one will be the good one). Kidbot pushes the algae only standing face to the algae and when she's behind them, (except the situation when the algae will be in the edge of the net).

You can talk with him again, this time he remembers the line about Kaiser Konstantin.

Come back to the street that Zoe has come. Go straight, pass the memorial and a busker. When you come to the map, you can ask about Chinese Market - you're almost there.

Look around. Few stands on the right you will find a wine (baijiu). Try to talk with vendor (a woman). She's busy with the customer, so use the cryptocoin with the man.

Queenie wants Zoe to find a girl named Hanna Roth. The person who can help with that is Nela.

Leave the boat and go to the left. Run forward, pass the statue (on the left), turn right and go upstairs twice. Turn right, then left and go to the tower. You'll find Nela's cart, but she's not here.

Look at the map next to the cart. Ask Crowboy about Kaprova Street. Turn to the right, then go to the right (near the advertisement), then downstairs twice.

Go to the right. On the right side of the street you will find a logo of Collectiva (next to the hovercraft). Nela is standing here and talking with a girl. You can go closer and hear their conversation or eavesdrop them from the distance (ear icon; Zoe's behavior will affect on relationship with Nela). Wait for the girls to finish the dialogue and ask Nela about Hanna.

Return to campaign HQ. Go to the street which is next to the hovercraft (on the left).

Close to the goons if you want to or stay, where you are (it's the choice that will have consequences in the future). When they leave, talk with Baruti.

It's time to go home. Go to the street next to the HQ building. Pass by the memorial, the busker, the statue with the lion, the Chinese Market and go to the left upstairs. It's Sonneschein Plaza.

Talk with Reza. Choose between options: tired or tone (the decision will have consequences in the future). If you choose the second one , you need to choose also between disappointment or let it go option. Even if you choose disappointment option you can try to chat with Reza to not start the fight but if you leave or be silent for too long, Reza just leaves the flat. If he leaves and you don't quickly take the frying pan from the cooker, your dinner will burnt.

As a little Saga try to get out from the crib. It's too high, so use the pillow. Go to the light direction - to the kitchen. When dad finds the girl and put her in the crib, get out of it again and go to the kitchen.

4. Wel-ding! - completed work at the Pandemonium.

5. She's so cute! - completed work at the lab.

6. Makoya! - finished today's volunteer work.
