Is warcraft like World of Warcraft

Warcraft, up to Warcraft 3 and its expansions, is an example of a RTS (Real-time Strategy game). As such, it's a completely different game since it can also be played offline.

That said, the Warcraft strategy games predate World of Warcraft, and essentially take place in the history of WoW. If you've played one game, the other will feel very familiar, as the graphic "feel" of the game and many of the character and creatures are similar.

in short, while completely different games, they share the same general look and feel.
