How do you play as blaze the cat in sonic 2006

In Sonic '06, there are three main stories (Sonic, Shadow, and Silver). Each main character has two other playable characters that the game will occasionally switch to, or 'friend characters.' Blaze the Cat is one of Silver the Hedgehog's friend characters.
