How do you make games designed for Windows ME work on Windows XP systems
Most games should work out of the box. For the ones that don't, you can try running them in a compatibility mode. There are two methods to place an application in compatibility mode in Windows XP.

Method one (the long but easy way):

1. Open your Start Menu and click "Help and Support."
2. Click "Fix a problem".
3. Click "Application and software problems."
4. Click "Getting older programs to run on Windows XP".
5. Finally, run the compatibility wizard. It will ask you questions like what system it was for and what resolution / screen colors it needed.

Method two (much shorter and only slightly more complex):

1. Right-click the game's installer.
2. Select "Properties."
3. Click the "Compatibility tab."
4. In the dropdown box, click "Windows 98."
5. Check any of the screen resolution and colors boxes if needed.
6. Click "Apply."
7. Try running it again.

You may need to do this for both the installer and the actual program. Other times, either the installer or the game will work fine, but not both.
