How do you beat the final boss in TUROK

i helped my friend beat turok a few months ago and i think the final boss was a tyrannosaurus rex and to beat him you have to find a shotgun use flares to distract him and try to kill and when you get the chance you can kill by putting a grenade in his head don't try to throw it though it doesn't work :)
