How can you get the chao to look like sonic

Raise a chao in Sonic Adventure 2/Battle so it is speed/speed type. Make it neutral or hero and you should notice that it goes to green, then blue, then finally grows spines. Try giving it a hedgehog as its last animal, to get Sonic's shoes.
