What tech is needed to create a fully immersive VR

The Video Medium is always evolving, twenty years ago games didn't look, play, or even sound as good as they do now. These days games are stunning even in the last few years, the technology has made a huge leap forward. In 2011 "The Elder Scrolls: V Skyrim" looked visually stunning, but even that looks old compared to cut scenes in the new "Metal Gear Solid". Dr.Michio Kaku said that we will have "Photo-realistic" Graphics near the year of 2020, this will lead so some amazing changes. So, My question is, "What will we need to create a fully immersive VRMMORPG that will stimulate, all five human senses?" In order to be fully immersed the player wont have a classic controller, they'd need some sort of way to uses their brain to interact with the world. From what I've researched the easiest way to manipulate objects using ones mind, is by microchips implanted into the brain. This is clearly very impractical, is there/will there be away to put inputs into a computer by using a brain without this? This would be used to control a character "In Game" The most difficult senses to stimulate would be, touch, taste, and smell. Could this be done by emitting certain waves or pulses into a brain, Or would another piece of hardware have to be used? From what I've heard, there's an American university that's been able to create taste using electromagnetic shocks to a persons tongue. Could this be attached to a player? As for touch, could some sort of polymer "Full body suit" that's puts pressure on a player where something is being felt "in game" be created? or once again could this be done by manipulating the brain? Lastly Smell, would an actual smell need to be created or could it be stimulated by sending artificial brain signals? This VR could be used for much more than just videogames; It could be used for medical purposes (Mental rehabilitation) or even by disabled people. It could also be used for, Training of the Armed Forces, International teaching, international commination, etc. These are the questions that I'd like to know the answers to, and how long will it be until this is possible?
