Was the character Al Mualim in Assassins Creed based on a real Person
Rashid ad-Din Sinan, also known as The Old Man of the Mountain, or Al Mualim (Arabic: "The Teacher") (c. 1132/1135 - 1192) was one of the leaders of the Syrian wing of the Hashshashin sect and a figure in the history of the Crusades. Based on the Nizari stronghold Masyaf, he controlled various districts in northern Syria, namely Jabal as-Summaq, Maarrat Misrin and Sarmin.

Al Mualim was indeed a real person, and he was the leader of assassins. However, all those things occured in Assassin's Creed (Altair being his apprentice) were purely fictional.
