Why cant you pick up the gum in beavis and butthead virtual stupidity

You have to use the "Look" command to see the gum on the fountain. Then use your hand and click near the water spout itself. That is what allowed me to get it. Of course I still dont know what to do with it. Uhh..heh heh!
