A nifty thing they began to include in Pokemon were these things called Ribbons. While they serve not real function in game, they do mark some of the progress one can make throughout the game. Sometimes, its simple little things, like completing EV training or visiting a particular person, other times, they are the rewards for victoriously competing in the Super Contest. The ribbons in the game are sorted based on how one acquires them to make it simple and easy to find what ribbon and know how to get it.


The Unattainable Ribbon
There is a ribbon that is solely given with Pokemon, thus cannot be obtained in-game: The Classic Ribbon.
This ribbons ONLY comes from hacking or from Nintendo-sanctioned Pokemon Events. This ribbon is unattainable any other way.

Contest Ribbons
Very simple in terms of acquision, all one needs to do is successfully clear the corresponding difficulty of the corresponding Super Contest. This is a completely different aspect of the game than normal, using the appearance statistics opposed to your Pokemon’s base stats. These are improved through the use of poffins.

Beauty Ribbon, Beauty Ribbon Great, Beauty Ribbon Ultra, Beauty Ribbon Master
Win the Beauty Pokemon Super Contest at the corresponding Difficulties, Normal through Master Rank.

Cool Ribbon, Cool Ribbon Great, Cool Ribbon Ultra, Cool Ribbon Master
Win the Cool Pokemon Super Contest at the corresponding Difficulties, Normal through Master Rank.

Cute Ribbon, Cute Ribbon Great, Cute Ribbon Ultra, Cute Ribbon Master
Win the Cute Pokemon Super Contest at the corresponding Difficulties, Normal through Master Rank.

Smart Ribbon, Smart Ribbon Great, Smart Ribbon Ultra, Smart Ribbon Master
Win the Smart Pokemon Super Contest at the corresponding Difficulties, Normal through Master Rank.

Tough Ribbon, Tough Ribbon Great, Tough Ribbon Ultra, Tough Ribbon Master
Win the Tough Pokemon Super Contest at the corresponding Difficulties, Normal through Master Rank.

“Daily” Ribbons
These ribbons are called this because they are acquired by visiting Julia in Sunyshore City on the different days of the week. Julia lives in the Upper-Right house of Sunyshore, on the right. Different days have her telling different stories, and by giving ANY answer to her question, you get the ribbon for your Lead Pokemon. One can also use this list to figure out what days you would need to visit Julia to complete this set of 7 ribbons.

Monday – Alert Ribbon
Tuesday – Shock Ribbon
Wednesday - Downcast Ribbon
Thursday – Careless Ribbon
Friday – Relax Ribbon
Saturday – Snooze Ribbon
Sunday – Smile Ribbon

Event
These Ribbons are gotten by meeting certain conditions within the game. By completing the prescribed task, you will be rewarded with a ribbon.

Footprint Ribbon
Visit Dr. Footstep on Route 213, he lives in the only house on the beach. If the lead Pokemon has max happiness, you will be rewarded with this ribbon after a short sequence.

Effort Ribbon
Talk to the girl in the Sunyshore Market. If your Pokemon is fully EV trained, then she will award you with this ribbon. You can find the Market just above the Poke-Mart.

Shinnoh Champion
Beat the Elite Four with the Pokemon in the party.

The Battle Frontier
A surprising number of ribbons are acquired through the Battle Frontier’s Battle Tower and other locations. By meeting certain conditions one is awarded Ribbons.

Ability Ribbon
Beat the Tower Tycoon in your 21st battle in the Tower.

Great Ability Ribbon
Beat the Tower Tycoon in your 49th battle in the Tower.

Multi Ability Ribbon
Win 50 consecutive battles in the Battle Tower.

Double Ability Ribbon
Win 50 consecutive Double battles in the Battle Tower.

World Ability Ribbon
Achieve Rank 5 in the Wi-Fi Battles in the Battle Tower

Pair Ability Ribbon
Win 50 link Multi-battles in a row at the Battle Tower.

Purchase
These 3 ribbons are purchased through the Ribbon Syndicate in the Resort area. To get into the Syndicate, the lead Pokemon needs to have at least 10 ribbons on them. The easiest way to get those 10 is to 1) Talk to Julia for 1 week, getting all 7 of her ribbons. 2) Get the Effort Ribbon from Sunyshore Market for a fully trained Pokemon. 3) Talk to Dr. Footstep on Route 213 with a max happiness Pokemon.
4) Get any other ribbon. Be it from the Elite Four, Super Contest or the Battle Tower. See any other part of this guide to find ribbons which will work.
